With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Vinay Kumar Shaw is a highly skilled bariatric, gastrointestinal (GI) and laparoscopic surgeon, recognized for his expertise in weight loss surgery, general surgery and minimal access procedures. He has successfully treated over 10,000 patients and has been associated with some of the most prestigious healthcare institutions in India.
Dr. Shaw has previously served as a Consultant at Medeor Hospital (formerly Rockland Hospital) and Medanta Medicity, Gurugram. His expertise includes GI and GI oncological surgery, laparoscopic and robotic surgery and advanced bariatric procedures. He completed his Master’s degree from GMCH and received specialized training in laparoscopic surgery at the Institute of Minimal Invasive Surgery, AMRI, Kolkata. He further honed his skills with a three-year senior residency and teaching experience at VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, one of the largest multi-specialty healthcare institutions in the region.
With a strong passion for minimal access surgery, Dr. Shaw has also undergone specialized training in South Korea. His research contributions include multiple publications in indexed medical journals, including the prestigious British Journal of Surgery. He has been an invited faculty member at numerous national and international conferences and was awarded the Travel Grant in South Korea by the International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists and Oncologists (IASGO).
Dr. Shaw is also the pioneer of the safe HAP technique for Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, which he presented at the National IASG meeting at AIIMS, New Delhi, as well as at the International Congress of the European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons. Additionally, he serves as a reviewer for the Indian Journal of Surgery and is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based surgical care.
